First Visit
What to expect
At first visit, we will examine you and ask you about your health history and any other problems you are having. The therapist will take the time to attend to any needs or answer any questions you may have. The therapist will then do a series of tests and measures, such as checking your range of motion and strength, and your ability to perform specific functional tasks. Using information from the evaluation, you and your therapist will establish a treatment plan and physiotherapy goals designed to help you achieve recovery as quickly and safely as possible. Treatment can begin on the first visit, including manual therapy and exercise prescription, which we consider to be the cornerstone of our care.
What you’ll need
Please plan on arriving 15 minutes before the start of your appointment to complete your new patient paperwork, which includes information about your current injury, past medical history and other relevant information.
What to wear
In order to make the most of your physiotherapy sessions, we ask that you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Exercise wear such as sweats, t-shirts, and shorts are best, but not necessary. Your therapist will need access to the area of your injury.
What you can do
You are the primary focus of our care, and therefore your active participation is essential to a successful rehabilitation. In order to reach your goals, the following guidelines are recommended:
· Follow through with any prescribed home exercise programs
· Report any significant changes in symptoms, medications, and function to your therapist
· Keep all scheduled appointments
· Arrive on time to all appointments, providing maximum time with your therapist.
